Answers

  1. What is the smallest quantity that I can buy?
A1. We are a bulk supplier to industry and water treatment plants. As such and because we would like to keep costs down for all involved the minimum quantity we sell is 1 (one) pallet (400 to 500 kg depending on product). If a product is in stock locally and available in paper bag size (15 to 25 kg depending on product) we may, at our discretion, be able to sell by the bag.

  2. Do you supply the filter vessel and other equipment for the activated carbon?
A2. We are a manufacturer and supplier of high quality activated carbon products. We do not sell or manufacture any filter vessel equipment. We have however extensive experience in vessel requirements and can provide technical advice regarding vessel selection and related equipment. We also work closely with vessel manufacturers in both Australia and New Zealand. Please contact us if you need assistance with your project.

  3. What is the delivery time?
A3. If we have the product in stock locally (most of our products are) we can deliver immediately. For larger quantities (container loads) and special requests it would have to come from our factory in Perth. Depending on destination it could take 2 to 8 weeks.

  4. What is the shelf life of activated carbon?
A4. Activated carbon has no shelf life. It will keep its pore structure and, hence, its adsorption characteristics until the activated carbon is put in contact with compounds that can be adsorbed. We recommend keeping it dry, separate from volatile organic chemicals and secure from rodent attacks.

  5. Can I reactivate the used activated carbon and reuse it?
A5. There is no facility in Australia and New Zealand that regenerates activated carbon. The used activated carbon would have to be replaced with new and disposed of to landfill

  7. What does BAC stand for?
A7. Biological Activated Carbon. Biology builds up on the activated carbon surface improving the activity of the activated carbon further.

  8. How much activated carbon is required to remove water soluble ions such as NO3- (nitrate), CO32- (carbonate), Mg2+ (magnesium ions), Ca2+ (calcium ions), SO42- (sulphate), Na+ (sodium ions), etc?
A8. Activated carbon does not remove ions from water unless they are chemically bonded to a larger organic compound. These water soluble ions can be removed by e.g. Deionisation.

  9. Do you have information sheets?
A9. Yes - Activated Carbon Technologies has prepared a number of information sheets providing guidance on common issues relating to activated carbon selection and usage.
